Clinical Teaching
Wylie ISD welcomes clinical teachers during the fall and spring semesters. To request placement, please follow the steps below. All clinical teacher requests are handled through Human Resources. Students or representatives should not contact teachers or principals directly. Review the Clinical Teacher Handbook for more information on our program.
Placement Process
- Clinical Teacher requests must be made by the university or certification program.
The request must include:
- Description of the assignment
- Certification being sought
- Preferences for school or grade level
- Assignment starting and ending dates or total hours required.
- Complete an online background check for the district.
*Wylie ISD will accept clinical teaching requests for Fall 2025 through July 1st of 2025.
Clinical Teachers will attend a district orientation to get an overview of our expectations for them. They will receive a clinical teacher badge at this time. Please contact Micah Pohlmeier at (972) 429-3063 or Micah.Pohlmeier@wylieisd.net if you have any questions.
Classroom Observers
Classroom Observers are individuals looking to observe in our classrooms to meet state or university requirements before teacher certification. Observers will work directly with the assigned classroom teachers to arrange dates and times to observe. The available dates for observation are as follows:
- Fall semester observation requests need to be submitted between August 25 - November 21, 2025. Fall observations can take place from September 2 to December 12, 2025.
- Spring semester observation requests need to be submitted between January 12 - March 27, 2026. Spring observations can take place from January 20 – April 2, 2026. Due to state testing, we cannot allow observers on campus after April 2, 2026.
Wylie ISD Observation Guidelines:
- Each observer can have up to 20 total hours of observation per semester
- Only 1 classroom placement per semester. We cannot accommodate multiple classrooms or grade levels
- Active Classroom Engagement is not permitted in Wylie ISD, and video recording is not allowed
- Special requests will be considered, but are not guaranteed
- If our maximum number of observers is reached, we will have to close requests until the following semester.
*You will receive the classroom teacher assignment via email. Do not contact a teacher or campus principal without an email confirmation from Human Resources. Wylie ISD does not offer classroom observations during the summer.
