Watkins Elementary was recently named by Solution Tree as a Model PLC at Work® Campus for its consistent success in improving student achievement. This recognition places Watkins among an elite group, being one of only five schools in Texas and one of 34 schools and districts nationwide to receive this distinction.

The annual Wylie ISD Supply Drive begins Feb. 10. Donations collected during this event will benefit both our Back-to-School Fair in August 2025 and provide ongoing support for student needs throughout the year.

Fourth graders from Wylie ISD's Watkins Elementary traveled to Fort Worth and Weatherford on an Education in Action Discover Texas Field Trip, Wednesday, December 18, 2024, to experience what they are learning in Texas History. Students visited the Fort Worth Stockyards and the Doss Culture and Heritage Center.

Wylie ISD has received a preliminary A from the Texas Education Agency on School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 2023-2024 school year. School FIRST reports public school district financial accountability ratings.Since TEA began rating the financial management of districts over 20 years ago, during the 2002-03 school year, Wylie ISD has achieved an A every year -- the highest rating possible!

Wylie ISD’s Visual Arts Department has been named a “District of Distinction” by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA). Only the top 5.5 percent of districts in the state earned the honor this year.
